The Fuzzy Stuff

If you clicked on this title (The Fuzzy Stuff) then you are inquisitive. By the time you are reading this you should understand that not everything that you write on your blog has to have a keyword in it. Not everything you write has to have a goal, a target, a CPC or a metric. Sometimes, the most engaging thing you write can be completely ‘out there’, off-the-wall, random and personal. If you wanted me to explain the purpose of this post, then the fact that you are reading it says more than I could explain by myself. It is The Fuzzy Stuff, that gets back to who we are and what we want. I got you to read this far and if you gave up reading by now then this blog post is not for you.

So, now that I have your attention, let me explain this further… One person might read this, or a Thousand people or a Million people. When I write it, I do not know who this might reach. It really doesn’t matter. It is an idea in my head and I can write about it and broadcast my thought process for free to as many people that want to read it. The power of the Internet. That is what I can do and that is what I am doing right now. It costs nothing more than my time to express my thoughts and to post it to the Internet Connected World.

You probably have two questions right now

  1. Why did you write this
  2. Why am I reading it

If you got this far then I will share what this article is really about…

This article is about being real, expressing yourself and engaging with your customers. Not Clicks, Likes, Shares, Keywords or Carts.

Don’t forget the rules of engagement where you need to use Keywords, Social Media, Back-links and refreshed content to get yourself heard among the noise. We still do that and promote that as an approach. What I am talking about here in this article is that every now and then you can forget about all of that, and get real with your customers.

How would you feel if every time you went into your hairdresser all you heard was an attempt to book the next appointment? How would you feel if every time you went to the dentist they tried to tell you how bad your teeth were? How would you feel if every time you bought something instead of ‘Thank You’ they tried to sell you something more?

This blog post is a broadcast, it is impersonal, but if you are reading it then I wrote it for you and to you. If you think this post is a waste of your time then I probably didn’t write it for you. There is a way (and a time) that a blog post and social media can be more than just a sales pitch.

Am I writing this to win your business? You can decide that. Personally, I think I am writing this to educate and illustrate. Perhaps to Entertain. Maybe I think I am an Educator, an Illustrator and an Entertainer. It really doesn’t matter. I wrote it and you are reading it. So, I probably achieved my goal even if only one person reads it.

I could be telling you what to do, how to win or the latest trends and fashions. I’m not. The fact that you got this far in this article means you probably understand what I am saying.

Just because it is online does not mean it needs to be something important or relevant. You can post whatever you want, whenever you want. The content, and the choice to read it is in the hands of your prospective clients. This post may or may not be read. I do not control that part. Your ability to speak to your readers sometimes needs to rise above Click-throughs, Likes and Shares… Sometimes you do have the right to speak clearly and simply to anyone that is listening.

If you like this approach to Business and Internet Marketing then, of course, we would love to hear from you.
